In 2008, on a visit to St. Jacob’s, Ontario, I went into a quilt store. As I was perusing the store, I fell in love with the various quilts and the patterns on display. When I looked at the retail price, I knew that on the budget we had, I could not afford to purchase one. So, I thought to myself, “Why don’t you make one yourself? How hard can it be to sew? Sure, you hated sewing in Middle School and swore you would never touch a sewing machine for the rest of your life, but now I am older and have more patience, so why not try?”
So the next day, I went to the book store, purchased two books, “Sewing for Dummies” by Janice Saunders Maresh and “Quilting for Dummies” by Cheryl Fall. I read through the books, purchased some fabric and thread, dusted off the sewing machine in the storage area, and sat down to try and sew. It went amazingly well, I actually was able to sew a relatively straight line. Fast forward to 2013, and have thus far made 14 quilts (2 king sized quilts, 5 queen sized quilts, and 7 lap quilts). It was not easy by any means, and I have cried many tears in frustration and I have doubted myself, but have also experienced joy when I have given a quilt to someone and they absolutely love it!
I love to craft as it is rewarding. I knit, crochet, sew, quilt, scrapbook, and I am continually trying to learn new skills (currently I am learning how to create a website, actually, this website). My love for creativity is what has inspired me to start this site. My hope is that you will be motivated to try crafting, or to add to your repertoire of craft skills already learned. Be inspired, let your imagination loose and enjoy the journey!
This website is a work in progress. I am not sure what the end result will look like, but I am excited to see where my imagination will lead me.
Thanks for visiting and hope to see you again!
